say what?
i’ve haven’t posted since february (~8 months?) and i start out like that?
i can’t say i’ve been busy … just lazy.
…on a more serious note, i tried out brunch on sunday at zinc. i tried the green chile enchiladas. i thought it was interesting that i wasn’t asked how i wanted my egg, i can only azzume that it was part of the “plating” scheme, and it came a bit overcooked for over-easy. The beef and green chile was fine, and i enjoyed the spicy-chunky-red-tomato salsa/sauce/garnish on top, although it did clash a bit with the green chile. The tortilla was flour and a bit thick for me, i would have enjoyed it better if it had been a corn tortilla. the potatoes were decent but several needed a bit more frying. the bloody mary was excellent, although the bloody mix was a bit thick for me and i requested another shot of vodka. the additional shot-plus thinned it out nicely and put me in a better mood. i finished brunch with a pint of one of my favorite beers, “hazed & infused.” i sat at the bar so i’ll give the service an “a” and the food, i’ll give a “b-.”
“you’re just another asshole.”

while i was enjoying sushi on saturday at shogun, i realized my servings have increased. i used to have a large beer, one order of sashimi, one order of nigiri and one roll, i now usually have the softshell crab appetizer, a roll (shogun, rising sun or crazy), an order of yellowtail sashimi, and two orders of nigiri, usually salmon, but today i had one salmon and one unagi; oh! and now two large beers or a large and a small beer.
YUM!

…not a clue. But I made it back a day shy of a month! May miracles never cease. I did overhear this (paraphrasing): “These fries are better than the fries at Zinc.” Where were “These fries” ? At the Wingbasket on San Mateo.

January 9th, 2007
i decided to officially return from my unofficial holiday hiatus.
i can’t say that it was bad. i wanted my holidays to be quiet and relaxed, which they pretty much were. i celebrated festivus by attending spence’s Ritual Cleansing, an evening of drinking and watching Saturday Night Fever and Purple Rain (in that order). i loved the snow. i lived in Denver from ‘81 to ‘93 and have been wishing for a good snow like i enjoyed in Denver for sometime. i felt it was some how fate-related that it was the biggest snow in nearly 50 years for the Duke City because my 50 b-day is in January.
i had taken extra time to try to figure what i wanted to do here, i feared my blog was too much like a diary, but really, many blogs are just that … so i’ll go ahead and continue on with RANdom thoughTS and let this evolve on its own instead of forcing something.
watch for more pics.

i didn’t realize how early the bad driving starts in abq. (especially friday) i got out to the bus stop about a half-hour earlier than usual and it wasn’t long before i noticed three drivers already being assholes. maybe it’s not that drivers are assholes, but assholes are driving. i’m sure it’s just a case of their time being far more important than mine. other than that “good morning,” i’m off to a decent start. no coffee.
nine on the stroker test.
if today’s plan goes as expected, i should be participating in the great capitalist pass-time, consumption…shopping…christmas shopping.
perhaps it’d be better for me to blog at the end of the day, rather than the beginning…

December 14th, 2006
i am both excited and apprehensive about getting my blog going. it is a commitment, especially if my own expectation is to post each day. only scored a six on the stroker test today (more about that later), i probably average seven or eight. i’m picking up the dictionary more that i usually do.
i guess it is not too surprising that i’d start blogging at the end of the year. 2006 wasn’t the best for me, at least for my family. my mom and dad passed earlier in the year, just 24 days apart, and then my 55 year old brother passed in august and then my aunt (my mom’s sister) in october.
…and i’ll be at the century mark the beginning of 2007…
i’m curious to see how this blog evolves…and i need to contact some old friends and see if i can get them enthused about blogging (at least here).
revised
